Hi all
I am here in Fremantle, Australia waiting for my yacht Punta Del Este, Sanya and UNICEF to arrive.
Punta Del Este and Sanya were delayed following repairs after their collision outside Cape Town.
UNICEF had to divert after a crew member developed appendicitis.
So all three boats are charging as fast as they can towards Fremantle.
The rest of the fleet will sail on 22 December and the remaining 3 yachts will sail again on 24/12 so the crew can rest and catch up with family and friends who are waiting for them.
As for me I am melting in the heat 40C +.
My Airbnb host Rachel is a lovely, fantastic lady. If your ever in Freo she will sort you out with some great accomodation.
She has organised a local supplier to chat to about resupplying the yacht and provided great tips on local activities.
I am meeting up with the remainder of the new crew this evening for chicken curry.
The real work begins tomorrow with the beginning of our induction and refresher training.
We will organise as much as we can the victualling for PDE and take on the cleaning and sail repairs. This will provide extra time for the current crew to test and spend time with family and friends who have been patiently waiting.
My missing bag should arrive soon 😬
Hopefully the jet lag is on the way out and the temperature is dropping so I’ll more energy to enjoy the delights of Fremantle.
Of course there are those clumsy / only happen to me moments to mention:
1. Knocked over lamp in bedroom and tore shade
2. Pressed button on light outside front door and broke cover getting a slight shock as it was the sensor not the light switch as I thought
3. Been bitten underneath little toe and the itching is driving me mad.
4. At 4.30pm I couldn’t work out how to phone a taxi or they were all closed on Sunday, not sure which. So borrowed a bicycle and peddled to the yacht club. Had to be there by 5pm to drop off application for Chinese visa.
Some thought I was ill when I arrived as my face was as red as a red thing 😉
Anyway visa application submitted.
As you see from the photo Santa has made it to Fremantle.
